My question is...Which performance enhancements have you found to live up to the claim of increasing your fuel mileage? If you believe all the claims and could afford all of the upgrades you'd be able to drive coast to coast on one tank of fuel. I'm just trying to figure out which upgrades have some truth to the hype.
I've done a lot to my truck since I bought it in 1/02, and my mileage has risen accordingly. None of the things that I've done have hurt my mileage, and most have really only helped a little. The exception to that is the chip. It raised my mpg by about 1-1.5. I didn't buy it for that specifically, but expected an improvement, and got it.
The TYMAR intake, full tilt exhaust system and chip have contributed to a 2mpg increase over 03/02. And, it's a lot more fun to drive!!
2000 F250 4x4 CC, 56k miles - I get 19 mpg when I keep the tach at 2 grand or less on the highway. This translates to 65 mph, +/-.. Driving down I-25 this weekend at 80 mph, I got 15 mpg. The return trip was at 75 mph and I got 17.5 mpg.... Sweet spot..?? probably 55 mph.., Mind you, this is with the 80/120 profile from my SuperChips programmer, synthetic engine oil, and Amsoil air filter... I'm sure the stock profile would probably get better mileage, but it's too much fun driving around with the 80HP parameters in place....
