Figured I would share this little tid bit with you all!
Last Thursday I remote started my truck from the office and walked out about 10 minutes later. When I jumped in I noticed right away my check engine light was on. I instantly checked all my fluid levels, temps etc and everything was fine. I didn't notice any weird noises so decided to drive it up to the dealership where I purchased it. Now for the good part - I pulled in the service bin and said "my check engine light is on would you like me to leave it running or shut it off" the service tech stroll's over and says " go ahead and shut it off the code will me stored in the computer" he then proceeds to ask " do you have an appointment" I of course being a total smart a$$ respond with " Yes, I called two weeks ago and set up an appointment knowing my check engine light was going to come on today" for some odd reason he didn't think this was funny
Long story short they gave me a loaner (two wheel drive F150) and off I went. I went back tonight to pick it up and here is what they told me and the notes say.
" Verified the concern of check engine light is on. Performed pre checks oil air and fuel qualities ok. Self test's KOEC P164A, KOEO pass, KOEO click pass, KOER pass. Check oasis and found SSM 21690 pertaining to code and concern. Inspect air filter assembly, no concerns found. Cleared code and rerun self test's, pass. Performed road test and verified check engine light did not come back on. Engineering is working on a PCM calibration to address this issue"
Ultimately they told me they are having issues with the air filter sensors and this issue has not been uncommon. They said not to worry if the check engine light comes back on and they would call me when the PCM calibration was ready.
Sorry for the rambling but figured I would share so you wouldn't panic if the similar situation happened to you.
Interesting...but you are the first to post this event at any site I have visited. In fact, it is the first air filter sensor mention as well...maybe one of our super techs here will comment
I work at a Ford Dealership in Manitoba, this code is (according to Ford) more frequent in areas with lower ambient temperatures. There is currently no fix, as a Technician I feel like a retard whenever a customer comes in and I pull these codes trying to explain there is nothing I can do. There is no drivability concern but I totally understand the frustration with the check engine light being on. There is an SSM explaining that Ford engineering is looking into a calibration update. I have also seen a couple frozen air filters causing the problem but not many. Hopefully they come out with a fix soon.

My sales person told me they are seeing this issue pop up much more often with plow trucks in our area. It really doesn't sound like a huge issue and doesn't impact drivability. Does make a guy wonder if you couldn't install an aftermarket air intake in like the Banks and would it still do it.
?
Another case confirmation. Two nights ago, temps dropped overnight to about -10 C from the previous day high of about +5 C. I had washed my vehicle the night of and yesterday morning went to pick up the kids from school. Noticed the check engine lite came on after a few minutes but suspected a sensor trip immediately. No other apparent issues so continued to drive yesterday and this morning.
Finally got around to hooking up my VCM and pulled the codes - sure enough, P164A. Reset the code and wait for the calibration fix.
Put 11.6 miles on the truck and the check engine light came on again. I called the dealership and they said don't worry about it and they will call with the PCM calibration is released.

Same here - maybe 15 miles and the light came back on. Same code.
Mine has been on for three weeks, I haven't got time to run 250 kms to the dealer. Truck is running alright. Seems not to have the "passing" power at high speeds.
