I need to redo the hinges and striker on my truck, adjusting the striker bolt did help but the doors still don't close as easily as my dads 1986 F350. All four doors on it close with perfection.. With the doors opened on it I can give them a push with a finger and they close correctly.
Well, apparently sometime during the recent cold spell, the plastic sleeve on my passenger door striker busted. I started hearing a rattle from the door.
The replacement bushings are a great idea, but the washer doesn't come off the end of the bolt. I guess I'll just bite the bullet and buy a couple new striker bolts to put in the truck. I may actually still have one in my toolbox, just have to dig thru it. I swiped a couple many years ago from a car that had been crashed, and only used 1 many years ago.....
For a temporary solution, I got out a roll of black electrical tape, and made 15-20 laps around the bolt. Cheap, but effective.......

The PEX solution that Franklin recommended works great on my truck. I have about 4.5 feet left of the stuff if you'd like me to cut some off and mail it to you. You can just split it and feed it over.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm pretty sure I have another good striker bolt somewhere in my collection of miscellanious stuff. Besides, the passenger door doesn't see much action, so the tape solution I applied could last for a good long time. Not the first time I've used this to quiet a door from rattling.
I'm always running across oddball stuff, and tend to snag whatever I think I may need, someday. Just gotta hunt thru the collection to find that striker. Pretty sure I know where it's at. Just for reference, I last needed a ford striker bolt when my ex was still carrying my son, and he's nearly 19. Yeah, I'm that old...... And so is my collection of parts.....
Just wanted to say thank you to thread, had no idea why my doors just started rattling. I found this thread, checked my bushing and sure enough they were gone. I bought two of these from NAPA, part# 675-5170 for a 96 Ford F150 and problem solved!!

Been there, done that! In fact, my passenger door still has the tape on it from when I did that 10-15 years ago.
I'm actually replacing the striker assy on my driver's door. I'll get around to the passenger door when I replace all the seals on the windows. After that, I should have a rattle free cab!
