my chip is controlled by a round little **** that it right under the dash(where the prev. owner installed) and it doesn't have any literature or markings to show the settings. how can i tell if it is on while in idle? or can i turn it on and off on the go? just need a little assistance with it. I don't know a lot about them so even advice or anything would be great.
MOST chips you can change on the fly no problem. A way to help us determine what it is would be to pull the 3 (or 4?) bolts that hold your E-brake on and behind that is the pcm. With the engine off, and the neg batt terminals disconnected (so you don't fry anything) take a look at the back of the PCM and there should be the wires from the selector switch running down to that. carefully pull it off the PCM (sometimes there taped in) take a picture (front and back) and we'll see if we can ID it for you
ill see what i do with it. Is it a complicated deal to take the Ebrake off or is it a quick ID?
No, very easy take a look and there are 3 bolts and it slides out of the way. Just be sure you disconnect both neg batt terminals, always good to have them disconnected if you're doing anything near the PCM (just as a precautionary measure)
