I have a stock 08 F-250 Crew Cab Lariat 4x4 5.4L GAS. It has the stock wheels and tires for now. I am wanting to start looking for a small lift. 2.5" would be fine. What kind should I get. Don't have much money. I had a jeep and did a budget boost and then found out I needed other stuff to make it ride like stock. In the end there wasn't anything "budget" about it. Thanks for your help in advance. Also what does it cost to have something like that installed.
Well if it happened on the Jeep it will certainly be the same for your SD.
With a 2.5" lift, you will typically be doing a front leveling kit and swapping out your rear F250 2" leaf spring blocks with F350 4" blocks. That is what many of us do and have done.
This is typically the plan when going for looks mainly and assuming you won't be doing any agressive off-roading.
Regardless of which brand/make you go with you will want to make it ride and track correctly. This means money will need to be spent.
Consider spending easily in the $500-$1000 dollar range (before wheels and tires and you doing the install) for the lift/level, blocks, longer shocks or extensions, track bar drop bracket or adj. bar, alignment, tools you will need etc...
Take your time and research what is available and the costs. Slowly buy your pieces untill you have everything then install it.
It can be done abit cheaper but again you get what you pay for.
I Just got done doing a 2.5 Pro Comp Levil Kit on my 06 S.D. $210 at "4wheel parts". This will bring the front end of your truck about 1in. taller in the front. If you want a true level, you have to buy a set of 1in blocks for $30 more bucks. If your macanicly inclined, you can do it yourself in about 1hr. Be sure you have some Tall enough Heavy Duty Jack Stands and and and H.D. floor jack. You'll be droping the front differential down after disconenting lowing the front end enough to set your Lift Spacers above your Springs without compressing them. Did it my self for only the cost of the Kit. The Kit also comes with shock extention brackets so you wont have to spend on shocks. I also was told I would need an alighnment but havent had one done because the truck is still driving as streight as befor I made the mod. I'm very happy with the results. Good Luck.

If you did the 2.5 procomp kit it should have brought you up closer to 2-2.5"
My Ready lift put me closer to 2 3/4".
you have to buy a set of 1in blocks for $30 more bucks.
This leads me to believe that you added a 1" block on top of the OEM 2" blocks?
If so stacking blocks is a major safety issue and can cause instability. Standard issue is to replace the OEM block with one larger block hence the 350 block.
Adding all the other items like track bar bracket, shocks, alignment etc..that should be installed will increase the price quite a bit.
