I bought a 01' F-250 SD 4X4 and noticed the front end feels loose. The previous owner has already replaced the ball joints (paperwork included) at less than 60,000 miles. It drives straight but is soooo easy to wander sometimes. The truck has a one steering damper with a slight bend in the arm. Could that cause it to feel "loose"?
Id be more curious why it's bent. Replace the dampner (stabilizer).
Is the truck stock or is there a lift/leveling kit? low miles but bushngs can be dried out if sat for any length of time.
Check tie rod ends, stabilizer bushings, track bar bushings, shocks, tires, wheel bearings etc.. can be anyone of these or a combination of.
Get a proffesional alignment if one hasn't been done lately.
ok if the truck has that much on it and ball joints were replced at less than 60k i would seriously also add them to the list.
If your not too mechanically inclined than take it to a proffesional "alignment" shop. They will give it a full inspection and let you know what it needs.
