Brake line size

I have a 1979 F250 4x4 reg cab long bed. I need a new back metal brake line. I am about to go to the autoparts store and I need to know what size to get.

Thank you! now this is the first time I've ever had to buy brake lines. From what I understand from advance auto parts the come in like 3 ft straight sections. Do you know if they come with connections on them? Or do I need to purchase them also? And if I do do you know what size i need to get of that to?

yes they have nuts on them, if they are the wrong size you can reuse your old fittings, with a double flare.

Typically, the parts stores have them in different lengths. You can usually find them already flared with the fittings already installed. This is the fastest, most convenient option. You'll need to bend it to fit, and for this you'll need a tubing bender. Sometimes it may take a couple tries to get it right (meaning wasted lines), and if the line you're buying is longer than the stock line, it helps to model the line you'll bend out of a coat hanger first.

You can also find replacement lines from vendors like LMC, and there's a company called Inline Tube that stocks many applications. Inline Tube can also custom duplicate lines if you send in your originals - I did this for my Galaxie restoration and couldn't believe how good of a job they did.

Ok so I got 8 ft of 3/16 brake line and a they came with connections its a 3/8 on the fittings now I was looking in my truck up at the proproting valve and the connection for the back brake line was big I haven't pulled it yet. But Do any of you guys know if the threads are gonna be the same size? The ones one the 3/8s are big so is it just a bigger wrench needed on the one currently one the truck?
