Real awsome guy. Very good at what he does. I have been watching him since he was on Discovery Home. Then they fed it up with Planet Green. Now he is on HGTV, but its only his new show, Holmes Inspection. It just goes to show you how some contractors out there are. Its what I get to deal with (I am very much alike Mike in quality) unfortunatly with the current economy, people are choosing $$ over quality.
Always makes me feel good about our remodel when I watch that show...
Humorous note--I hired an old coot electrician that I knew from working on the MIL's house. Well, the miles added up quick on the guy in the short time since that job and mine. He was so sick I told him he had to wear a rope if he went under the house so I could pull him out if he died under there. He laughed. No worry anyway, as his ex-felon-drinks-all-day helper was doing the under the house work anyway. And when he did die, he died at his own home, on the floor of the bathroom, alone, like a real man, not some ***** that would have gone to the doctor and maybe lived another 10-15 years.
Anyway, the drunk finished wiring the house, no problems and we've been back in over 7 years.
Meanwhile, the high dollar neighbor did a remodel after us, and used a high dollar electrician who didn't drink or die on the job. So as it turns out, as I can run every electrical item in our house all at once, they can't turn on the upstairs lights and a blow dryer at the same time. So now they have another non-drinking, non-dying, high dollar electrician rewiring part of their house.
Go figure.

Reason: Well, the filter got it before I did....washing my mouth out with Lysol....
I've got the show set to record on the DVR. I watch it and Holmes Inspection. He seems like a genuinely great guy and I'm a big fan. It's amazing how much he finds wrong in the homes he works on.
Seems like I remember in his "behind the scenes" show, they said that he is able to get a lot of materials and labor donated to help out the homeowners and he frequently discounts his rates. Been a while but seems like I remember something like that.
You gotta love a guy that switches from a Dodge to a Superduty! I also like the fact that he takes on apprentice carpenters and teaches them the trade.
Obviously his show portrays him as a superhero but I believe he is genuinely interested in helping people that have been fleeced by thieves. I watch his show every chance I get.
