Its the E4OD logic that sucks...not the actual trans. Came from Ford shifting too soft.
If you've ever driven a high power diesel with a tuned motor/e4od...the potential of the transmission is high. It can and will shift mean...if you tell it how to.
Looks like the best bet is find a tuning solution for trans. only (Baumann) or play with the shift points from any binary editor tuning solution.
You are correct, but the Baumann is kinda expensive. Before I turbo'd my truck it would break traction at every shift it I wanted, not it's just the computer acting retarded that's why I am seriously thinking about ditching the E4OD and slapping a 5 speed in it's place, then I can throw the computer at a wall. I love having a purely mechanical (aka non computerized) engine.
Can you tell me more about this binary editor tuning solution? I have an IDI so I don't have to worry about messing up the engine with a computer.
Sorry to resurrect this thread, I'm doing so for some added information.
I've been researching this a bit, and found a place called Cope Racing Transmissions, that is offering an interesting looking conversion to a manual and transbrake valve body. Not sure if the line pressure issue is solved with this or not.
I feel the line pressure issue can be solved by bringing back the throttle valve of the old days.
