Heres a quick one for you, Ive had my 08 since new and had something happen to me thats never happened before yesterday. I was backing out of a sticky situation and must have gone from reverse to drive to quickly because the truck just shut off. Put it in N quickly and started back up and continued on my merry way.... Anyone else experience this? I know the truck was still rolling backwards when I went to D..rive. Is there some sort of safety switch that cuts power when it senses youre rolling backwards and went into drive? I figure there must be, seems like a pretty cool idea just never heard of it before, saves some wear and tear.
Maybe, but I doubt thats what you experienced. I know the torqshift in the superdutys had such a safety, but in that case the transmission just wouldn't make the shift, not shut the truck off. I think it just died because the engine couldn't handle the opposite force put on it by the transmission when you went to drive, I did this very thing to my 93 Bronco except at 50mph going into reverse, whoops. I wouldn't worry about it though.
