Rocker arm assembly

Would putting the rocker arm assembly from a 74 390 in the cleaning tank be ok? Was not planning to disassembe the rocker arm assembly. Having seconds thoughts and may just put it back as is.

If you pop the end the plugs you can really clean it out. But I wouldn't submerge the whole assembly without removing the end plugs.

Are the end plugs reusable or do you replace them?

If you're carefull they can be, but NAPA and many others will have some in stock.

I went ahead and disaasembled one of two rocker arm assemblies to clean them up correctl. I numbered the rocker arms so i could put them back exactly how i disassembled them although my numbering did not hold up. Does it matter which rocker arm goes where on the shaft. I know to have the oil holes in the shaft pointing toward the head and the smaller shank bolt in the oil boss of head. I kept track of where the push rods go. I am going back with new lifters and a new cam. Thank you.

It's a good idea to keep things in order, but there is no need. Don't lose sleep over it.

Just make sure the oil holes, as you said, point down and the special bolt goes to the oil feed.
