I shrunk my front fender wheel arch to a size more appropriate for a F-1 instead of the F-4 it started life as. I'd show some picts but still can't figure it out on here.
F250racer the transfer case is in backwards in the pic. Is there a reason why it is in that way? I know you are using the T-case as a gear splitter, and was just wondering why it was set up that way?

I'm using it as a doubler/overdrive, not a splitter. My rear axle has 5.83 so when the tcase in "high range", 1:1, I have a topspeed around 50mph but could pull a house down. When the tcase is in "low range" I have an OD of .51(since the unit is mounted backwards), this means it drives more like a normally geared truck, it still has decent pulling power but can cruise at 90mph(2,900rpm) if you could keep it on the road.
You can't shift on the fly so you need to either start in high or low.
He's got it turned around to make it an overdrive. In its regular position the transfer case is 1:1 in it regular position, and 2:1 in low range. By turning it around you get 1:1 and in low range 1:2, the opposite of its regular position. This turns it into an overdrive instead of and underdrive. I just wonder if this will affect oiling inside, cause certain tranny's or gear drives rely on certain rotation for oiling of the gears

It took me a while for it to sink in, but now I understand how it works. You also said you are using a styleside bed with flares. Are you planning on cutting out the fenders on the bed and adding flareside fenders to clear the wheels? Just curious. I like your truck, very cool!

I think it should be fine, I have put a decent amount of miles on it and it's ok so far. I also had it apart to remove the FWD gears and replace the seals, it apears that it should be fine no matter which way it spins.

Thanks, right now it's just the stock bed(nothing cut), I've measured several times, the tires only stick out about 4" on each side, and even with the rear suspension completely bottomed out(bumpstop touching frame) the tires still won't rub the metal.
I plan to just pick up a set of fender flares from a 4x4 shop or one of those towing supply shops and just bolting them on, should be pretty easy to find ones that match the bed pretty close, they shape/lines really haven't changed much between '59 up to the '90s
i just got a 1960 f250 cant wait to get started on it !
i cant wait to see some pics i also own a 1960 f250 and i just staarted on a project of my won great pick and glad to see someone else with a 1960 f250
I worked on the seat this weekend. I'm installing a firewall mounted brake master cylinder/pedal assembly, and an Ididit steering column. The suppliers all said to put in your seat first to position everything correctly, so I'd better get going on the seat. I decided re-upholster the stock seat. Here's the progress:
"Before"
Original stuffing - complete with rat's nest
Here's the frame....springs fixed and painted:
New backing and modern foam padding:
And...here's the seat bottom. I'll have to work on the seat back later this week:
