So were stuck with it? Is there no way to have it removed? You think signing the petition will do anything?

We have a Southern States oil distrubution company here in the Shenandoah Valley that also has a large gas station, the diesel they sell is 45 Cetane and thier gas is ethanol free. With their diesel I gained 1-2 mpg after 4 fill ups, want my wife to start getting her gas there and when they deliver the X I purchased Friday will also use their gas just to see how it performs. Where we boat in the summer (when we get a chance) Smith Mountain Lake, most if not all marinas have ethanol free gas. Sure this will soon become past history soon but hope not

hate to say it but it probably wont do a damn bit of good. The ADM lobby along with the smaller player ethanol producers have lined enough congressional pockets to continue thier control on the industry. Its a federally subsidized SCAM with a capital SCAM. The only benefit, right now, is to my many farmer friends who are more than happy to be getting in excess of 6 bucks a bushel for corn, driven primarily by the ADM demand due to ethanol processing.

Just like diesel there should be an "off road use" non ethanol gas offered at the pumps.

will do, there is only one station in town that doesnt have it. but luckly its right by my work. i've been getting a consistant 7.5mpg for months now (all in town, 4x4, idle time) so we'll see if there is any differance.

Ya know the kicker is that I typically get about 10% less mpgs with ethanol blended fuels but only spend 1 to 4 CENTS LESS per gallon for the blended fuels...to be EQUAL the blended fuels would need to be about 30 CENTS LESS for my Ex...

I'm intersted to follow what is reported by others.

Joe.

On a trip yesterday we had 2 Exs in our caravan. The 2000 Ex in the group was running transmission fluid in his 7.3 instead of diesel, he is a Service Manager at a Ford dealer and gets it in bulk from work. I can't do that in my 6.0.

You, behind him he smelled like his tranny was burning up and it was smoking pretty good but ran great on our 500 mile trip. My 6.0 was faster though.

If there are not any nearby stations (to me), how about 93-octane? I have always heard that when premium, the engine runs cooler and mpgs improve (presumably from the higher energy content). Does anyone know if they use less (or any) Eth in 93? That way, I could just put hightest in my Honda, chainsaw and lawn mowers and avoid the problems.

Lots of stations don't have ethanol in their premium grade fuels. But you will have to check with your station yourself to be sure because it is different from station to station and even more different in different states.

The shell gas station across the street from me has no ethanol in their 93/92 octane.

ok i dont have any full proof yet. i have not filled up that the one station that says they have no ethanol. but i did fill my expedition up with 90(highest) octain i could. so far i've gone from 8mpg to 12ish(by doing math in my head w/gallons used) nothing hardcore to say its better or worse. but sofar i am seeing better milage..alot better with the prem 90 which does not say anything untill i run a few tanks. but if it is a 4mpg jump its worth the extra coin!

I would like to know the dollar amount spent on small engine repair due to ethanol. The boat yards around me are filled with carb jobs.

Close! It used to be about 1:1 now it's a little higher.
