Anti rattle clips

Hey guys, I fitted new anti-rattle clips to my front disc pads, but they have both been spat out by the 'ol girl, can anyone help with why it spat them out, and how they should be fitted? Oh, it's for my 1977 F150 4x4 with the single piston calipers.
Thanks,
Shane

They either need a clip or interference type fit to hold them in place or an adhesive between the piston and the device. Is there something to hold it in place?

These are

The clips I have are a piece of metal that clips to the inner disc pad and is supposed to stop the disc pas from moving up and down in it's carrier.....I think!! They don't do anywhere near the piston.
Thanks,
Shane

Did you put them on the top of the pad? i believe they belong on the bottom. Thats the only reason i can think of how they'd jump out
