Hey there i am 17 as well and i am also working on restoring my 72 bumpside truck, its nice to finally meet someone in my age range who is as interested in older trucks as i am, i haven't met anyone else (So far). i noticed you had an extra front grill/light cover in the bed, are you interested in selling it? if so PM me. mine is missing and i cant seem to find one around here that isnt destroyed.
ok that sounds good, i live in rural Arizona. the walmart is in the next town over and Napa is a 2 hour drive over the pass, and the junkyard is just well, lets not get into that.
Cody, let me start off by saying that you are so far ahead of the game its not even funny. My first memories were in my grandpa's 71, sitting in Kansas watching trains go buy. im just now getting it and im 25. @17 rather than preludes, mustangs, turbos and such you are working with your hands to build YOUR truck..... THAT says a lot about someones character. No these trucks are something you would probably ever see on a Barrett Auction,(mine is still matching #s) but they embody so much of the old days that MANY people wish we could go back to. A time when everyone treated each other like family... Im starting to get on my soapbox so i will stop....lol
I believe that "smoke_dog" was referring to the green color of your truck. it is not a very common color but looks pretty good. As far as the color, that is for you to decide. My father changed the color of our truck from red to white, but i think i will be changing it back to the factory red.... keep the pics coming, and good luck with the rest of your build.
Cody, nice truck. I have been enjoying the project so far. I remember helping my uncle on his 68 f250 when I was your age. I now have a 67 camper special that I'd like to do a frame up resto on, but I think my wife would go crazy if it was down that long. The girls really like to ride in these old trucks, once you can talk them into it. They remind people of America's glory days. Keep up with the updates and pics.
Not sure what part of AZ you are in,but i use to live in the Mesa area. Keep an eye on Crigslist and just driving around.Theres alot of them out there, but they go for parts real fast.Bought mine there and drove it cross country to SC. Happy hunting.
