How much damage am I doing driving around with this grinding if it is the spindle bearings? Also it's just the passenger side that is making the noise if that helps.
The only damage will occur to the stub shaft if your spindle bearings are shot, they are pretty easy to get and don't cost that much but why waste the money if it only requires unlocking the hubs. Also if you lock them in if you get stuck you won't cause any noticable damage to your stub shaft for the short period of time you have the hubs locked in.

As a first step I would suggest removing the front drive shaft. Inspect the u joints. Then drive it with the hubs locked and unlocked. If you still have noise narrow it down to one side or the other using the locking hubs.
Sounds good pjwoolw. First thing I will do is check those u-joints as it very may well be them (I hope). After that I'll know exactly where it is.
Thanks alot!
