have a bad grinding sound when im braking but it only seems to happen while im pulling my cargo trailer. Took truck to ford they checked brakes rotors etc said everything was good. Finally they decided to replace my left iwe to see if that fixed it. Needless to say that wasnt it. the times is happens is coming to a stop then starting again and backing up. Once i get going it goes away. Any help is appreciated before i have to go back to dealership. Thanks
How heavy is your trailer and does it have brakes? Is the trailer tongue weight within normal limits. The fact that it only happens when you're towing seems to be the clue. Depending on how you're loading the tow vehicle you could be transferring too much weight to the front brakes. Just a thought.

My guess is they only inspected the outer rotor surface and not the inner surface. I saw this happen a car, same thing grinding while braking. Everything looked good until I started removing the rotors and found the front left inner rotor surface had a chunk missing from it.
I had the same problem. Replaced left iwe, the side we thought noice was from and didn't fix it. Replaced right iwe and seems to have done the trick.
Mine was intermittent and not while towing. Couldn't get it to replicate for dealer. Finally became constant. Feels like a bad wheel bearing.
They assured me that driving 8k miles until they could find and fix "did no further damage". I'm skeptical.
i can feel the grinding on the brake gas and steering wheel when it occurs. Since having the left iwe changed out it only happens when towing as of now. Even in reverse it does it. Going back to dealership wed am.
