Sorry up front for the long post, my name is Sam and I'm new here. My son is a young Marine stationed in NC, on his way home for Christmas, he called me said his truck was losing power and had a dtc p0022 cam retarded and making noise, he made it here in Tx. Put the truck in the shop, cam phaser, and guides were broken, had them replaced, truck ran well cold, but turned too junk when it got hot, turns out the oil pressure was dropping to 18#'s and the tensioners weren't working with that low of oil press. Pulled the oil pan to check some mains, they were gone, so I brought the truck home and pulled the motor, replced the oil pump , crank and bearings, put it back together with all new stuff. Now the truck runs great cold but loses power as it warms up and has dtc's p0021 and p2006. oil pres. appears good and the cmvc is moveable, can't find anything unplugged. The timing is right, the vct's are new, what gives. I'm about $2500 bucks into this and I'm stumped, Help!
Sorry about that, I guess that would be important, 05 F150, 5.4 3v, 146k. I didn't mention it, but, I noticed, sometimes after driving it, when I put it in reverse it starts to miss and idle real bad for a moment. Thanks.
Wow, thanks ya'll, thats some useful info, especially those kind words from you Projectsho! Thanks for all the help, really, ya'll are great.
theres a good way to get some help..... if we don't know the answer to your question we aren't going to post a responce. but getting snippy and sarcastic is gonna turn people away that do know the answer when they come across this thread. might want to think about that next time you are looking for info.
