Well I don't know about the 250, but I do know that you can find some Ford track locks on ebay for 150' s and rangers and the sort.
I bought mine off of ebay and rebuilt it and stuck it in my self for about 200 bucks total.
When you refill the diff, you need to make sure you add some friction modifer for LS's.
I know that some people have posted some DIY'er articles, but I cant remeber them, hopefully someone else can get you pointed in the right direction.
I have experienced alot of difficulties from the factory LS unit in the 10.5 on mine. I upgraded the fluids, and the shims and have still, i am not satisfied. I would suggest something in the aftermarket variety if you can afford to spend the 400-500. Aurburn makes a good LS unit. A great and cheaper route is to go to a junk yard and pull an LS out of a diff and have it installed, it is still cheaper than an aftermarket. Just make sure you have the codes for the axle right.
