gt40 intake?

well i have been thinking about getting an intake off an exploder at the yard here and was looking for an old thread about someone who had done this but cant find it. i was just looking for any kind of problems i have to address doing this swap. i know i have to figure out something to do with the air intake pipe and throttle cable but was wondering if there was anything else i had to do for this swap. thanks for any help

Mike

Just so you know... other than looking different this isn't going to produce any gains, the 5.0 truck intake flows about the same(untouched) and has more throttlebody to boot. If you still want to do it then the list of things you will have to deal with include the throttle cable, intake ducting, EGR, vacuum lines and wiring relocation for EGR, TPS and IAC. You should be able to get intake ducting and maybe the airbox from an Explorer to work otherwise you could go aftermarket.

well the reason is was thinking about doing it was from my reading the shorter runner length is better for high end power than the long runner truck intake. right now i have a somewhat narrow powerband because of the cam i put in it. friend of mine i used to work with told me it would make some pretty noticable gains but i never really felt anything all that different. i was thinking that the gt40 intake would at least open up some more at the higher revs a bit more than my stock intake? or am i mistaken?

With the e 303 cam , you should be around the 6000 rpm range , i assume you have had a tune and moved up the rev limiter ???.....Lew

That would be true but there isn't much difference in runner length between these intakes so it's not going to produce the desired results.. all the dyno runs I have seen show the GT40 equipped motors hitting the wall at 5500rpm. Maybe search out a box upper to mount on the lower. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/5-0-M...-/200545257836
