Alright. I ordered a power steering assembly (bracket and pump)from some online parts locator. The issue is it doesn't come with hoses. I thought I read somewhere that the stock hoses didn't fit correctly but that hoses from a '79 F150 worked.
What did you find online? I need a saginaw bracket for my 460? All the mexican strawberry pickers have emptied all the local junkyards.
Those 4.9 brackets are everywhere... and the 302/351 bracket isnt too hard to get. The 460 bracket seems impossible to find.
I just got off the phone with two different Ford Dealerships, one of which always has or can get what i need... They both said the bracket has been discontinued. AND... before it was it went for $315.
If I cant find one soon in a junkyard... I think I am just going to trim the bracket thats on there and drill some new mounting holes.
Have you guys heard of anyone "making" the sag pump fit by cutting/trimming the stock bracket? If you trim it and drill new mounting holes, will it bolt up or are there other differences? i will keep looking for a bracket but at least i can get rid of the dang noise while im looking.
I made a hydro assist set up for my truck and its the best decision I ever made. Got most of the stuff from tractor supply, to buy the set up it's around $1500.00, I was able to make it for $250.00. I'm running 46's and I can't recomend this enough. I ran over a log on the highway doing about fifty, and the steering wheel didn't even move! It actual split the log!
Quick question about the pumps i got a bracket today at the junk yard and the pump is shot but the metal tank is good. autozone sells just the pump for half the price of the whole thing can i get the pump out of the metal tank or is it a unit and ill have to buy a whole new unit or should i jus save my self the trouble and find a good one at the JY?
Ok so i looked a little more and i found it just needed a little lovin from a dead blow to get it to come apart so my next question because i was looking at the diagram posted above and that bracket looks alot different then mine. The bracket i got was from an 80's van with a v-belt setup and the bracket is a couple of pieces of steel so my question now is can that be made to work because because my truck is a 96 and the stock ones are different and i run a serpentine belt or do i have to find one off a newer van? Thanks...Chuck

Reason: update
You need a bracket off a newer 460. The only difference between the serpentine and V belts systems is the actually pulley itself. The bracket is different after i think 1988 or so.
