A while back i saw that someone put a tko 600 5 speed in a first gen lightning. Has anyone here done anything like that or have any ideas on doing a swap such as that? Let me hear your ideas
I dont see how the ZF is crappy, it is just almost to big of a truck transmission to be shifted real fast in a lightning application. I try to bang mine around real fast from time to time and it has its limits, but it is really strong. Even though I am not going to sit here and not act like I am not biased so...
The M5R2....well self explanatory...
But on to the tremec as long as you found a bellhousing for it that would bolt up to a SBF then i am almost certain you could piece together a clutch system that would work.
Thats good to know that yall are all happy with your transmissions but i on the other hand am not. Had a 1992 f150 2wd 4.9 that went through 2 m5r2 in the matter of 3 years. My boss had a 1995 f250 with a zf5 speed and as perviously state its a good tough transmission. I wasnt refering to it as junk btw it is just a a very slow ****ing transmission. Not quite what i was looking for with this thread.
