Well after 147686 flawless miles it has happened. I was plowing a driveway on Thursday and when I left to go to a buddy's house to do his I thought the RPM's were a little high. I was on side streets and couldn't really wind her up nor thought about it at the time.
After finishing up I headed out to one of the main roads to take me home........ 30 MPH and 3000 RPM's. Truck would not shift out of second gear. Stopped at the shop were I have the work done I can't do and it threw a code for Exhaust Pressure Sensor. Changed it out, code went away and truck still wouldn't shift.....
Long story short... They took it apart today and found pieces of the clutch and other metal fragment in the pan. All solenoids operating ok.
Not really what I need right after the holidays but thank God I married a great gal 12 years ago. She gave me the go ahead.
MY build date for BTS is Feb 14!!!! Happy Valentines Day to her! I wasn't really wanting to pony up that kind of cash but a Jasper was 3400, and local shops wanted 3200 for "beefed up" transmissions. To me it's a no brainer to spend the extra for that kind of product.....
Sorry to hear of your trans troubles but good job going with a BTS. My wife and your wife must be similar. She was very supportive when mine went and I told her hat I had two choices, BTS or John Wood. She understood and was just glad I didn't want a new truck. Looking forward to hearing your impressions of the new trans.
BP,
Yep!! Ordered it in May of 02 and they actually had to call the factory to make sure they still had a 7.3L to put in it or the deal was off. I took delivery of it on July 02, 2002. My truck was my answer to my wife telling my I needed something bigger than a 1994 Flareside when she was pregnant with our first child!!!! I still love both of them!!!! Haha
Good choice... a Jasper is CRAP and I've got first-hand experience to prove it. It's what's under my truck and I can't wait until I blow it up so I can get John to build me a trans... provided I've got the money. Until I've got it saved, I'm crossing my fingers on it!
Congrats! You will absolutely love your BTS! I have had mine in for just under a year and a half. I love it, one of the best things i have ever done to my truck. thats not a bad wait for your trans either, sometimes its over a month out before a build

Awesome, the love for family and truck is priceless. I bought mine new also, 4-04 and been totally happy ever since...Never thought a bad trans could make somebody so thrilled, lol, but its true, it would be on my end knowing what your getting..

Jasper is a brand, they reman engines and trans. Never owned one, but I dont hear good things about them...Alot of shops will order them in, i think because it is quicker then having yours rebuilt

Jasper is a HIGH-volume rebuilder. Kind of like getting one of those cheep starters at discount auto parts. They always work for awhile... The reason Brian's transmission is better is because of all the (exclusive) parts BTS has made for it. After seeing it go together and what parts are replaced/upgraded, its obvious to me why Brian is not worried about us breaking his trans! And it literally keeps getting stronger - we are soooo lucky to have a guy like Brian putting so much thought (and $$$) into making a product like this!!
There's alot to be said about letting the transmission guy write your tunes as well. I haven't compared it to my old tunes - but it is soooooo much better, I don't want to go back. Brian's (Cale's?) tunes are all dyno-based and work beautifully with his transmission. Just sayin...
I agree with Jason on the BTS being the trans for me. There was nothing wrong with my trans when I had Brian build it, but I knew it was a matter of time before I break my stock trans, and I wanted to make sure I have a BTS on my truck while I could do it.
Are you going to BTS or are you getting it shiped to you?

Hmmm, I'm in NJ right now and I'd love any excuse to go back to Lead Hill... Anybody around here got a trailer up to the task?? (fuel costs me $1/gal )
Seriously, its looking like I may be off work long enough to pull this off.
