Parked in the garage last night cause of the super cold temps and with no block heater and not all the gp's i figured i better keep it warm if i wanted to get to work. anyways about 55 degrees in the garage this morning. truck started right up like it should. I backed out and went back in the garage and noticed an oil spray that covered the floor and part of the other garage door. From where it started and the angle i am positive that it came form the exhaust pipe. Any ideas i have never seen this. This is my 94 truck also
Its gonna be totally different troubleshooting steps depending on if its a turbo or not. Perhaps adding you truck to your sig would skip this step. Also how much oil?? A few drops or half a pint?
Are you sure it wasn`t just dirty/oily/sooty water from condensation in the exhaust system?
I will second this. My truck usually spits out a cloud of black on cold starts (short puff really) that will produce a 'spray' pattern on anything close enough to the pipe. It looks like oil, but isn't really. I suppose it would be a mix of soot, water, and a bit of unburnt diesel which would seem oily.
Well i am glad to here that is just dirty sooty water. The spray was 6.5 feet long, started 4 inches wide and ended about 12 inches wide. Since i was gone most of the day most of this did dry up. I took a pic i will try to upload shortly. More about the truck. it is a 94 250 ext cab long bed factory turbo. 166k straight pipe and k&n filter.
