Hey guys seen some post about towing with explorers but still have a couple of questions. The RV dealer told me I would be good towing a 22' travel trailer with my 99 but as I wait for my trailer to come in I am wondering if it will handle it.
The dry weight of the trailer is 2900lbs
The explorer is 4.0L OHV 4dr 4x4
I have 3.73 gears
I bought an additional leaf spring that should keep the back level.
Should I get a tranny cooler installed?
I have the 4-pin connector but need the 7 pin to get the electric brake to work and trickel charge for the battery. Anyone know how difficult that is to install?
One last thing will 55E tranny hold up towing that weight?
Thanks for your help and if there is something else I might need please let me know... (maybe a bigger truck).
