Does any know how to put the correct mileage on another gauge cluster I had to get a new one and I didnt know if I could put the mileage that was on my original gauge cluster?
I would think you'd need to get the odometer unit out of the old one and put it in the new one. Odometer manipulation is generally frowned upon, so I'd think they would make it fairly difficult to change the mileage reading.
Thanks for the input I aint tryin to lie about my mileage I'm just trying to get my original mileage put on my new one but thank ya'll for all the input
I've seen cars with replaced clusters with a stocker on the door or frame. Original milleage + odometer milleage.
Thats what I always heard. You get the original mileage recorded on that sticker and add the new mileage on the odometer to it. Maybe the digital ones can be adjusted if you get a new one at 0 miles, but most of them have some sort of tamper feature that shows up if you fiddle with them. I know some odometers show silver lines between the numbers if its tampered with.
Automotive rebuilders do it all the time. Very common. There are mail order services available to anyone where you send them the speedo cluster, along with mileage requested. They have special programming on a pc and adapter cords which plug from the printer port of the computer to the speedo cluster assembly. They then have the ability to change the speedo mileage to whatever is desired,on a bench , then send it back. It is legal and there is no crime unless someone along the was uses this to misrepresent mileage.
