sorry to start another post - but puzzled.
i traced wiring from brake lights to dash. everything seems fine. I have turn signals.
do the brake lights have their own fuse in the fuse box?
fuse box seems to have some empty spots. maybe for radio - which it never had.
getting things fixed one at a time. truck is running fine.
need brake lights!
I also tryed to put a jumper wire between the two wires that go to master cylinder and still no lights.
help/suggestions is appreciated.
You need to check for power at the wires going to the switch with a test light or volt meter , one should have power. If you don't have a test light buy one they are cheap and really handy. Tom

Yes, one should be hot, prolly coming from the headlight switch I believe, by way of a large molded plug on the firewall. The other makes it's way to the tail lites. So as the rooster said, figure out if one of them has 12 volts or not. You can make up a test lite from am old socket and 12 volt bulb if you have to. Touch one side to ground and the other to the positive post of the battery to verify your tester works before drawing any conclusions.
bought the test light. no continuity to either side.

my fuse box looks mighty sparse.
a fuse box diagram would be tremendous if anyone can share one.

yea turn signals work. puzzling to me. crawled under truck, under dash - still can not figure it out.
thanks for the diagram. mine looks a little different
I battled this for a long time. finally ended up rewiring everything from the column to the lights. ended up being my pressure switch. I have a wiring schematic I made myself from going through my wiring wire by wire. hope this helps
