Turn signal switch/brake light problems
My 75 has a 78 steering column in it and I've had to replace the turn signal canceling cam a couple of times in the last few years, most recently being two weeks ago. The replacements have both been Help brand units and both have had issues with turning off the brake light opposite the signal that is flashing when turning and braking at the same time. It seems that the contacts aren't placed properly on the new cams causing them to lose contact when the switch is activated. With the last one the brake lights would work if you pushed the TSS lever back a bit toward center after turning it on but the new one seems even more out of whack since that doesn't help. Anyone else had this problem or figured out how to fix it? I'm not necessarily opposed to busting out the wallet for a complete switch replacement, but what's to say I won't need to replace the cam in that one in the future and run into the same situation? I guess this is what you have to deal with when you buy cheap chinese junk.
