My buddy has a truck with the same problem. They almost always say that no reverse need a new tranny but i dont think so. My buddies truck has no reverse but only sometimes. The problem lies in new tranny particles floating in the oil and the valve body picks up debris and the valves hang and this is more prevalent when its hot my first idea is to get a rebuilt valv e body or have the old one cleaned and fixed. I am going to be cleaning my buddies valve body here cery soon i will report what i find here

From what I have heard, if the shop that rebuilds it does not properly clean the transmission, lines, replace torque converter this can happen. My fathers truck had the original go at 60k next at 100k than about 4k latter. Replaced with rebuilt Ford unit (I know) and now has 180+ without issue (knock on wood). Previous were rebuilt by a local transmission shop. My truck has its original at 138k (knock on wood).
