Hey guys. My 96 is leaking fuel. It appears to be coming from the top of the engine and running down the back on the right side. I won't have time to try to find the leak till Sunday. I was hoping you guy's might give me some pointers on where to look to save me some time. Are there any common leaks on top of these things? Thanks in advance.

Start with the lines that run from your mechanical lift pump to fuel bowl etc, May be a worn line. A lot of times that leak is from the weep hole on the fuel pump and it's going south... a good way to check is to clean everything out and get a small mechanics mirror to look around down there with some good lighting and see if you can ID the spot. If it is the fuel pump, we can get you pointed in the right direction as far as replacement
I had a similar leak a couple weeks ago and it turned out to just be the "banjo bolt" on the fuel lines that needed tightened up a bit. BTW if that is what it is, you will need an 1 1/4" wrench to tighten it up. To see this bolt you look to the rear of the fuel filter and down in the valley between the cylinders. It's really the only thing in there big enough to require that size wrench. Good luck!
Look at this sensor .. it's easy to miss. Fuel comes out the electrical connector and not the threads. It's the fuel filter restriction sensor and up top.
WOW! Some great information guys. I got a feeling yall just saved me a ton of work. I'll check it out Sunday and let you guys know what I find. Thanks a million all of you.
I just plugged up my fuel restriction sensor hole thanks to you guys. Saved me a pile of money. I knew my 1 year old fuel pump couldn't be going out already.

Typically I wouldn't know if that were a good or a bad thing, but I think in this case that is what you wanted. Glad to hear you found your leak.
Ok, I found the leak. It's leaking at the area at the back of the head on the passengers side, between the head and exhaust pipe. I presume from the pipe that is coming from the fuel pump. I cannot see what is in there. What do I need to do now? Pull the exhaust pipe? How do I fix this? Thanks again everyone.
If you can get to it see if the fitting is loose and carefully tighten it. The fuel leaks can be very tough to find. I wouldn't think thats where the leak is but it is possible.

K, thanks. I'm gonna go get a mirror and see if I can see behind there but that is definitely where it is coming from. The valley and all the stuff in there is dry. The best I can tell it's running down the back of the head onto the starter then on the ground.
Ok, I managed to get the leak stopped for the time being. It was where the line from the fuel pump screws onto the 90 in the back of the head. It wasn't loose. I got a stubby 9/16 wrench onto it and it was tight but I went ahead and put the tightetis on it. Stopped leaking but it appears like there is some sort of rubber squeezed out between the line nut and line so I fear it won't last long. What is in there? An oring? I'm gonna go ahead and get the parts and replace it when I can. Thanks again everyone.
