buying used

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a 4x4 diesel to put a camper on. Probably Ford, I have owned a 2wd F250 diesel so I am somewhat familiar. I've been leaning toward a Powerstroke but scouring Craigslist, sometimes a good-looking IDI comes up.

I think my ideal truck would be a supercab with a short box and a manual transmission, but it's hard to find the perfect combo and it's negotiable.

I've noticed that the used diesels in the area seem pretty pricey, and it's rare to find one with less than 220k on the clock. I want the best truck I can get for under $10k, more like $7 would be best.

What do you think of this one? 94 Ford 7.3 turbo diesel idi 4x4 crew cab

In case it gets pulled: 7.3 factory turbo IDI engine, Crew Cab, Long Bed, 246k on the body, 160k on the engine, 5-speed swap from an original auto with pretty new clutch, and a bunch of new parts including glow plugs and tie rod ends installed recently. Owner is asking $6500. It seems hard to me to guess the value of this truck, so I am turning to you all.

Thanks for the help,
Eric

Holy crap! I don't know about your area, but here, you couldn't give away a truck like that!

Theres a couple big crew cabs for sell on my area, one of 'em would be good for you, I think it's an 89, crew cab, long bed Dually, 7.3 Diesel 5 speed ~200k miles and hes asking 1500$ for it, and it's been for sell for a couple months.... Looks good from the pics, fully loaded also. But wow 6500$ seems nuts to me.

Actually for the northwest that price is only slightly high. I see rigs like that all the time for around 5k.

Not going to argue, but this one seems priced similarly to others like it near Seattle. Don't know what it is about this area.

I'd walk up with $4200 cash, i'm sure he'd take it.

That looks like a nice truck. If everything is in working order I'm sure it wouldn't let you down for a LONG time.

I doubt $4200 would get it out here in the NW. $5500 would be more like it but I would wave $5000 cash in his face and see if he bites.
If he has done everything that he says he has that truck should give you many years of good service.
