I recently bought another F-150 used. Since then I have noticed after heavy rains I hear sloshing under the dash and it smells midewy inside. I assume maybe the evaporator compartment drain is stopped up or something????? Why would rain affect this does it normally enter this housing? Where can the drain be found? How should I best go about unclogging it.
see if the drivers floor is wet after the rain. there were a few trucks that had leaking window gaskets right in front of the driver. if not fixed, it iwll get the computer wet and you will have electrical problems after the corrosion starts to short things out.

No, the floor itself doesn't get wet. My guess is: that the exterior air intake behind the hood which mixes outdoor air with the ac compartment may use the same condensate drain to drain it's rain/snow water as the ac evaporator compartment and it may be plugged. Initially I thought it might be a leaking heater core but no coolant leaks on the floor I saw some clear water under the door seal guards.
I can only suggest that you try to pinpoint the sound. I would suspect a leak as well, even if doesn't make it all the way to the floor. The fact that it only happens after a heavy rainfall would certainly suggest that..IMO. It sounds like it's pooling somewhere.
Let us know how it turns out.
i have a 98 f250 i had the same problem, when i got a NEW windshield Insatlled, haha never did it with the cracked one!! :}} But ya its probably the seal round the window, u will have to pull off all the seals round the window an check them for cracks, then what i did was silicone under the seals then reinstalled the seals, no more wetness an u can do this ur SELFF< hope this helps..
