i recently purchased a 1959 f100 with a 292, 3spd and am wondering what the original tranmission used in that truck was? any information would be helpful, thanks
I recently purchased a 1958 F-100. I paid a tow truck driver to load it and he evidently injured- or ruined the transmission. I don't know what to do? I left the truck with a body guy- who had a mecanic look at it and said that it was ruined. I have been looking aroudn for a replacement- but can only fined $1200 transmissions that have 30 day warrentys. Would anyone know what to do. the tranmission is
1958 Ford F100 Transmission/Transaxle Assembly SIDE LOADER SHORT SHAFT 3 SPEED 6CYL 4*2
Can I have this rebuilt- or where sould you find a rebuilt- or used transmission. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I agree it would be better to start your own thread, but I can see you've been to just about every sub-forum on FTE looking for an answer, and haven't gotten one. I would contact Van Pelt Sales, VANPELT SALES LLC homepage, who are the most knowledgeable people on earth when it comes to Ford transmissions.
I'm curious how a tow truck driver would be able to damage a manual transmission, even if he dragged the truck in gear? Before you hit the panic button, I'd have a trans shop take a look at it. It's very easy to pull the trans on your truck, so I'd get it out of there and take it around to some shops.
What Ross said, or,,,,,,remove the transmission, drain the lubricant.Remove the top or side cover, take detail up close pictures and post them on the correct forum. Only way I can believe a tow truck driver could ruin a transmission is to break the case by chaining it and pulling on it. Transmission repair "ain't brain surgery." And yes, start a new thread in the correct forum. If you post them here, we can give you an idea where the trouble might be.
