This spring/summer I am planning on replacing my shocks on my early 99 f250sd with a 7.3 in it. The shocks that I have now are original and are shot. I am looking for suggestions on what to replace them with. I am not looking for anything special because money is tight but do want something good. I guess you could say the best bang for my buck. Let me know what you think. Thanks for your time.
So, you want to have your cake and eat it too? By a quality gas shock now like the Bilstein HD's instead of buying a cheap shock and having to replace them again in the short term.

Im gona let ya in on all lil secret....get u yer fav color rustoleum paint and keep yer old ones,i picked red reason being these trucks are so heavy sprung front and back, specially leaf fronts..shocks dont do much, heck mine are 11 years old....i actuall bought new shocks last summer, put them on and no diff,i took them off and returened them, thats why i say this..heck ya can even paint them that korney lite blue, add a boot and call them bubbasteins
Hound you are saying you can't tell the diff, then your old ones weren't bad. My stock ones went at 5 years, would hit bumps at speed truck would bounce after. Put on new monroe reflex whole diff truck. that was front , rear is still stock shocks, JMO
i reckon it depends what springs ya go up front,5200 or over shocks make verry little diff...with my front air bags i got round 5600 front....rides like a bipolar bronco, and i like it
bilsteins are a great shock. but i couldn't afford them when i was due. so i went with the ranchos had them on for about a year and a half now they have been great. if you decide to do the steering stabilizer as well i would go with the double. im not real happy with the single's set up.
