If you have a Mark VIII why not adapt the front suspension over to your truck? I seem to recall someone used a late model T-bird suspension and I believe it's similar to the Mark VIII.

You might have to fabricate or modifiy the upper strut mounts. But it should work out pretty good. You could dump the stock strut/air ride set up and go with an aftermarket air ride set up ( like a shock wave? ) that would be a little more compact.

I just think if you are running the rear it would be cool to run the front too.

I had thought about the Mark VIII front suspension also. It would take alot of fabrication and modification to the inner fender wells. New ones would probably have to be completely fabricated. I think better choices are out there IMO.

Just throwing ideas out there. I thought it was a good idea since you'd already have the donor. I'm a broke guy so I'm willing to do some fabrication to save a few bucks.

How do you feel about frame clips? You could use an older Crown vic clip. The have a narrower track width then the newer ones. But that means cutting the whole front of your frame off and grafting in the clip. Not my favorite way but it works. They have coil springs that could be replaced with air bags. Large disc brakes, big anti-sway bars available. But they use a steering box instead of a rack like the newer ones. Just another option.

I have decided to weigh my options with the Mark VIII front suspension. It looks pretty bulky but once I get the subframe out of the car I'll slide it under the truck to see. If I don't use it I believe I'll go with the entire Dakota frame and Mark VIII IRS. I'll use an extended cab frame and cut the kick-up out of it, shortening it to the correct length for my `58 then add the IRS.

I have thought about Jag but I am concerned about parts availability/prices...

That's one reason people use the Volare.

I'd like to use a suspension I can bag. The Volare doesn't make that a viable option...

The frame is 34" wide front to rear.

If the frame width is 34 then its about perfect for the Lexus SC400 swap, everything mounts to the cast alloy crossmember except the lower rear a/arm pivots, easy to fabricate. John

I have heard about the Lexus swap, but until now I have never found anyone else that has heard about it. How is the ride? Width?
