My E4OD never takes longer than 1 second to engage into reverse and forward is quicker. I remember when I first got my truck it felt like engagement with the C6 was taking forever compared to the AOD in my F150. I got uses to it though.
I'd probably blow a gasket if I had to wait longer than 3 seconds.

yeah but wreck, when she's going forward at 45 + and directly locked, the trans temps drop unlike the always open c6,and the rpms fall out of site too saving some mad $ at the pump.
a few little issues here and there is a small price to pay.
"with banks shift kit"
i wounder if that banks transcommand is giving him his troubles?
Same here, I don't have to wait or anything for reverse to engage. 5 seconds to engage into reverse just don't sound right. Now my transmission has 15 thousand miles on it so that might contribute to it operating properly.
UPDATE 1:38 Friday
Cleaned, blow dried, and dielecric greased the connector at the transmission, Nothing. Retraced wire, looks good. Disconnected the purple/yellow wire that now goes to the Bosch relay(Is that what you meant by disconnecting it as the safety switch???), same thing happened, shutters and stalls out as soon as put in gear.
The yellow and green light are on as soon as I start the truck, and stay on when I engage the transmission into gear. I tried it with the switch in the other direction, red light on, and it did the exact same thing (no surprise, just wanted to make sure I didn't cross the wires or anything).
I can't disconnect the Banks box, as it doesn't look like it was a "plug and play" kind of deal, seems that the old wiring harness was changed to accommodate the Banks kit.
I'm getting down to the wire on this thing, I've gotta leave town at 4pm, so its just about time to call it quits for the weekend and move onto plan-B, which involves me leaving my truck at home and worrying about fixing it all weekend, then crawling back under it on Monday when I get home. I don't like plan-B.
The switch seems to be operating as it should, but one more quick question - with the TCC-side purple/yellow wire pulled off the Bosch relay, the yellow LED goes dark, correct? By the way if the converter was operating properly, then even tho the red LED comes on when you put the switch to "lock" as long as the yellow LED is lit the converter will not actually lock up - in that sense green and red only indicate which position you have the switch in, for your own convenience while you drive, they do not indicate the actual state of the converter because to do that one would need a pressure switch somewhere in the hydraulic line that feeds the converter...
I e-mailed you a link to the TransCommand install article so you understand better what the thing does, and unfortunately it has nothing to do with the lockup - it may have caused the valve to jam due to the increased line pressure, but on the other hand they claim it never exceeds the max pressure specified by Ford, and you'd think the valve would be able to handle factory max pressure...
Yeah, the yellow light turned off when I detached the line. Thanks for the E-Mail, I'll read up on it so I know a bit more about whats going on in there, and tackle the project when I get back. I'll have an update on Tuesday. Thanks again for all the help!
