10.25 axle differences

Not sure if anyone will know...

Any specific differences in them through the years? Are some wider than others? Will parts from one bolt to another?

I have a SF (semi float) 10.25, but since I've had the detroit locker in my hands, need a full floater.

My concerns are as follows.

I have the stupid 7 lug wheels. I can either get New wheels and figure how to make the front hubs 8 lug, or keep my wheels (actually preferred so I don't have to spend more money) and make the rear hubs 7 lug.

Disc brakes and parking brake. I seriously doubt that my existing equipment will fit. So I want to get a disc brake with drum parking brake setup. Which years should I look for? Did they even have them on 10.25 or was it just the 10.5 version?

Hub width. How far out does the hub protrude from the center of the wheel. Are there different track widths? Brackets and such I'm not worried about since I can get them rewelded.

So, you ask, why not get a different truck. I like the f150 look, and I go through too many vehicles so I am trying to keep this one, I also like modifying things.

Do you have a good wrecking yard around there that you could go compare parts at?
I'm not sure how much room there is for doing it but on our race cars we regularly get axles redrilled for different bolt pattern. A good machine shop shouldn't have any problem with that.
Is there any other good posi you can find besides the Detroit Locker?
Hopefully someone here will have some more insight for you

I can get the LOCK RITE or the FORD LSD and maybe an Auburn but I think thats pricey. There is a section on Randys ring and pinion (who I deal with on parts) that describes the FORD one and pretty much lines up with what I've heard. It will probably work ok, but will not be very agressive and wear out quickly.

I have the lock right ordered, but I fear that it will be noisy. Most of them are. The only hope is that I have a heavy rear end, that is far from the passenger compartment so maybe it won't be too bad. However, the LOCK RITE is also weak, and not recommended for taller than a 34 or 35 inch tire. While I won't be exceeding that, it will be close, but at any rate concerns me about the longetivity.

The only wrecking yard that will really be of any help doesn't have very new stuff. Most of the others aren't willing to let you look or waste their time comparing. I also don't have a lot of free time to go looking either. But I guess I may have to. I was hoping someone hear might know.

Its just kinda annoying. I'm convinced this is a strong and viable rear end. The salesman at randy's said he sells very few parts for the 10.25, and they've been used on 1 tons for years. I figured there would be more information out there about them. 'Bout the only thing swap wise I've seen is on this site about the f250 w/ brake conversion. I don't even know who I would call. I tried Moser but they never got back to me.
