Ranger XLT Chain mail seats
Ok guys, i have two bench seats but both have been recovered at one time except the back (upright portion) of the rear seat which is still original.
What did the bench part of the seat look like especially those trucks that had the vinyl and chain mail vinyl inserts?? Did the chain mail vinyl come clear out to the bench seat ends near the door or was there a strip of regular vinyl along the ends? There was also a strip of regular vinyl between the two swatches of chain mail vinyl in the center of the bench part, correct?
I'm interested in a picture for my upholstering guy.
Thanks!

The back was just like the bottom. No vinyl on the sides. I did upholstery for about five years and the back always matches the bottom. Now not all of the seats came the way mine did. If you do a search either here or yahoo images for the dealer brouchers of your year model you can see they had a few differant styles. Some with the inserts being round at the top and bottom edges with vinyl on the sides. They ones that I have seen with the chain mail type vinyl was all the way to the edges.

rfe1979 - yes thanks for the pics and getting me straightened out. Talked with my upholstery guy last night and sounds like he's done a few of these seats too with chain mail. He was describing everything just like what you have in your pic so I think it will all be good now. Damn - have you priced chain mail vinyl lately? Would be cheaper to go with genuine leather (and no i'm not talking about the vinyl that looks like leather either !lol). Didn't think vinyl could be so expensive...........
