Charging problems

Ok, finally got a chance to try William's wiring. The truck is charging great now, thanks. But, of course, I have a new problem. The truck won't shut off. I connected the red wire to the alt. bat. post and the white to the green wire with the brown stripe. The way William indicated, it sounds like his green/brown wire comes out of the firewall on the drivers' side. I could only find that wire on the passenger side. Is it a different wire since I have the original gauge? I did test the wire and it is only ign. hot, not constant hot.

I looked at the back of the gauge in the cluster. It has a solid red and a solid yellow wire coming out of it. I found a solid yellow in the same harness as the green/brown but it is not hot at all. I would have to do some serious tracking to find the red since there has been so many re-wiring done with red wire. Thanks again to everyone!!!!
