75 c10 rockers?

75 c10 rockers?

is it possible to bump up the power of an efi 300 with a set of chevy rockers from the 4.1? i dont want to do my cam but if i can just take my valve cover off and replace the rockers for some more lift, that would be good. truck in sig.

Don't know about the Chevy's... but I can tell you the Mustang/Ranger 3.8/4.2 rockers don't work... don't ask me how I know.

IIRC the Chebby rockers are for stud mounts...your engine probably has pedestal mounts.

ok im just curious because im planning on doing my valve cover gasket soon, and i figured i should do some sort of power mod while im in there. are there any aftermarket rockers i could install to steal a few more ponies while i have it apart?

I have intsalled it on my 90 cyl head and it all works just fine. Crane part number 36655-16 will give you 3/8 studs and guideplate for 5/16 pushrods. If you go this route hardened pushrods are not required becuse the kit has nylon inserts in the guidplates. I had to mix a couple of kits on mine cause I needed 7/16 studs for BBC rockers I already had. It is best for long life of the nylon inserts if you polish the pushrods to make sure there are no burrs on them. This is easy to do in a drill.
This conversion kit will also make your valvtrain adjustable.

thanks for the info! i will definitely keep that idea in mind if i cant find rockers that fit my engine without any conversions.

I don't know if you read my thread about rocker conversions in the tips and tricks section? Anyways, with the pre EFI models it is common to use BBC rockers on our engines. That is what I have. You can usually find a nice used set on ebay for about $100.

But, I am not familliar with how your rockers bolt on, so I can't know. The vast majority of the bbc rockers need a 7/16" shaft. However, there are a few, like those for the 409 bbc, which use 3/8". Also, the come in 1.7, 1.73, 1.75 ratios.
