hello all, ive got a 427 in f700 that wont run not fireing, was told that the computer was bad need to find out how to check the computer before i buy oned any help would be appericated thanks bigdsimp
Your F700 probably has a Lima 429 in it, a "385" series engine related to the 429/460 in cars and light trucks, and the 370 in mediums.
Who told you the computer failed, and why, and what did they show you?
Also, what type of ignition do you have?
Ford had a "TFI" ignition set up that was prone to failure at 50k+. Not sure if it was used in your vehicle. This is where a shop manual will come in handy I would think.
Have you checked for power to the obvious components in your ignition set up? Checked a plug for fire even?
I would check that it has power comeing to the magic box ,and that the ground's are good at both end's the distributor and the box..what year is the truck?? if it is the standard ford box you can get them cheep from the wreckers take yours with you to compair..or test your's in a ford car if you can find one you can use as a test bed..
hi, its a 92 model fuel injected has 45000 miles ,also can you use scaner obd1or2 on it Thanks dave
OBD ll is 96 and above. You have to use the older vehicle spcific code reader. As stated above, check the basics 1st ie; do you have spark at the plugs and is it getting fuel?
