Question

So the OPs primary or water separator filter had never been changed before he put the NAPA filters in? If that's the case, it doesn't bode well for his fuel system.

Don't neglect the fact that the cause may be "bad fuel" Suggest you contact the station where you last purchased fuel - notify them - most stations are well aware of the potential damage that is possible. I recently had a fuel issue and the station stood by their committment and payed for diagnostic work, new filters and reimbursed me for the bad fuel. Put together your paper trail -take photos and don't throw away filters. do you still have fuel you drained? you may want to keep at least a sample - I know this doesn't get your truck running - but as sophisticated as these engines may be - most problems boil down to some of the simplest things. Good luck

Also, at least one of the guys who had the same issue, water in fuel just purchased, was able to get his insurance to cover the "accident" when the station wouldn't step up.

Thanks for all the input guys. I have reloaded all my stock info from my Spartan Tuner. My DPF/Cat is back on and my factory air filter. I have all my old filters, the 35 gallons of fuel I filled the tank with and my receipt. I have a very good relationship with my ford dealer and it goes in the shop tomorrow. I will keep everyone posted but i do think its the HPFP. Also I talked to Spartan and they have had people with the same issue get their trucks fixed under warranty. I will see what happens soon. Thanks again and I will let everyone know soon.

Ok so Ford called me today. They said the wire harness that goes into the hpfp has shorted out. After the Ford tech explained what happend i can tell you guys. There is a gasket around the wire harness that goes into the hpfp. The gasket blew out and caused corrosion in the wiring. The computer didnt know what, where or how much fuel to send out. The computer shut the truck down due to not knowing where to send the fuel. He also said it is a common problem on the early 6.4's. The warranty is covering all the repairs. The only way to reapair the problem is to de cab the truck. I will have my truck back Tuesday. Thanks for everything guys.
