I have to have the bed plate re-sealed and am going to have the studs done while the engine is out. The tech said he could do the studs for about $300.00 more in labor and I can get the studs. I am also going to have him do the trubo drain valve and the blue spring upgrade.
I have 2 questions:
1. How much should I expect to pay to have the heads machined?
2. What else should I have done while the engine is out?

This forum is awesome and I have already learned a lot and also provided some insight. I check it everyday.
Some on here say the heads dont need machined. Some say they do.
The heads on the 6.0l are very tight from the factory, meaning you can run into clearance issues if you machine them! You tech should be more than helpful on what they recommend!
my opinion i would have them machined because when you take the heads off they become uneven and then you will have the leaking problem again. my machine shop cost about 400 when i did mine but i also had a bad head. i think normally its like 600 down here in texas. and yes do the hpop fittings as well. also egr delete or egr billet cooler. do those now!!!!!
