I'm not sure what this piece is, but it is broken on my truck. It is a rod that runs between my control arms, and twists up through a bushing mounted to the frame. I feel like it must be some kind of stabilizer or something. From what I can see, it is designed so that when you hit the brakes, and the front of the truck wants to dip down, it pushes down on the control arms to give you more traction. It is broken on my left control arm, and when I hit the brakes, my truck pulls to the left, so it makes sense. It does it worse at higher speeds.
I just replace the calipers and brake pads. I had new rotors put on last summer. I have bled the brakes thoroughly to make sure that the left side didn't have an air pocket.
Can someone please tell me what this piece is so I can get a new one and get it replaced please?
Yeah, that's what it is, the stabilizer bar. On my truck, somehow, the stabilizer link came apart and is pulled out of the grommit that it mounts in. Any idea how this would happen?
The stabilizer bar (aka sway bar) links have pulled completely out of their holes on the sway bar?
I can see this happening if someone was driving and cornering extreme hard and fast repeatedly maybe but beyond that I can't think of how that would happen.
the photo i posted of the threaded rods with rubber bushings and backup washers is probalby your problem. Normally the threaded end break off, or the steel backup washer rotted out and the rubber pulled thru the hole. I have never seen a problem with the stabalizer bar itself.... look closer at the threaded rod.

This is the exact problem I had I replaced the links with some Moog links and replaced the actual sway bar frame bushings as well and my truck feels leagues better in turns.
Its easy enough to do once you get the truck high enough to work on just be ready to fight the links if they are extremely rusty and always replace in pairs.
