Welcome ten4rd03, they all say the newer 6.0s are better but i think the 03s rule. I have very little problems with mine, it has never left me on the side of the road, never broke. I did do oil cooler and welded egr cooler, but just did it early before it did go. You will not have a problem with the egr cooler as they are bullet proof. Get a scangauge and check oil temps and ect. Good luck

He is talking about doing a home made egr bypass. It's not really nessary! At one point it was thought that it is better to do away with (delete/bypass) the egr cooler than to chance them failing. More recently there have been more people that are saying to keep the system intact and fully operational (thanks to a few recent discorveries by some of the local tech here). Basicly, there were many failed EGR coolers that caused lots of problems, and lots of people contributed it to being a bad design on the cooler. The fix for the problem was delete, or bypass the system. We have learned that it's not really so much of a bad design (although I think that the bulletproff diesel one is better), as it was lots of other contributing factors that we didn't realize. I personaly did the delete for a few reasons. I didn't want to take the chance of it going out, and I really just didn't want recirculated exhaust back into my motor (the main reason). I have since decided that it is not the best decision I have ever made. I wouldn't recomend doing this now. The 03 ones were less **** to fell also, so you should really have to worry about it. If it ever does fail look into getting a bullet proff diesel one.
