Transfer Case shifting issues

I am having problems shifting my transfer case into 4wd and 2wd and getting it into 4 low is nearly impossible. Im guessing it has something to do with the linkage just wondering what it could be and how to fix it. Just got the truck about a week its a 71 f250 4x4.

Mine is dificult to shift, but only when sitting still. Usually have to be moving a little to get the gears to sink up.

I always have to have my F250 in gear and ease the clutch out while applying pressure on the t-case handle to get it to shift. Been that way for 30 years, no issues otherwise.

Yea I figured out the rolling thing yesterday evening. Its not the easiest thing to do but its not that bad. Thanks for the help though.

Had troubles with mind back in late 70's due to bad transfer mount cushions. plus all the shift linkage needed rebuilding. Fixed long shift-rod with ball & eyes boltends. Added poly mounts cushions pads. Yup not real ez to work, but it's the norm for this transfer case. Just learn the little tricks of shifting it..Plus running 30wt-50wt. motor oil is the correct gear oil for the trans & transfer case. Make them shift a little easier cold weather..This was for the divorce unit dana 24
