I just got my 95 bronco yesterday, when i first went to look at it the owner told me it needs pinion bearings in the rear axle, when you get going they start to hum. How can i find out what the rear axle is and what kind of bearing will i need to buy?
dont be suprised if you find more wrong back there then just the pinion bearing. If there is a limited slip be sure to inspect the spider gears for wear or failure. this is a common issue with the factory unit. when you replace the fluid make sure you or the shop that does the work put friction modifier in with the gear oil otherwise the LS will fail and possibly take out the ring/pinion.
Well he brought it to a mechanic and i guess he looked at it and was told it was the pinion bearings, I plan on doing it myself with help from a buddy that is a mechanic. Also whats is the gear ratio in the stock axles?
