Bad day

I'm ok, just shaken up. Slid on the road and couldn't hold on to it. I crawled out the window there.

Now the process of insurence adjusting, costing out, whatever starts. Yay.

Glad your ok. Looks like the have beefed up the cab structure or maybe it was low speed. Lots of the Super Dutys seem to crush the cab under the weight of the under carriage and drivetrain.

I am thankful I can sleep in my own bed tonight. Although tomorrow is going to suck. I'll be pretty sore and I still have to get the rest of my stuff out of the truck.

I wish I didn't have this story to tell, but I do. I am a firm believer that you need to feel what a vehicle does in slick conditions. Go to an open parking lot and slide around a bit. It will help when you find yourself in those situations in reality.

There are two topics to keep in mind - hitting the brakes generally makes a skid worse, and you need to steer in the direction you're going. I did both and no matter what I did I couldn't hold on to it. As soon as I stabilized my slide the truck went the other way. I can't explain it. I've never felt that before in all the travels I've done on bad roads.

The weirdest part about it was after my front end went in the ditch - I saw the ground coming closer through the drivers side window and then I felt the roof pushing down. Thats the point I panicked a little. I didn't know how far it was going to settle. Then the seat belt was a pain to get off. I tried to move around and figured I had enough room to climb around and get out the window. So I did.

No fun. I am sure the gravity of the situation will settle in later, but not fun no matter how you look at it. This is the king of all bad days and there will be more to follow.

Weird.

Good to hear you're ok. How long have you had the truck and how many miles you have on it? Hopefully insurance treats you right and you can get a 6.7 now.

Bought new in August and just crossed 10,000 miles. I will take some pictures.

One item I have in the truck is underneath the rear seat. I don't think that is going to come out very easy if I can get to it at all. Not sure how to go about that.
