2000 excursion 5.9 coversion

Hello,
I just purchased a 2000 excursion with a blown v10. Im wanting to convert it to a 5.9 cummins. Has anyone in here done this? if so id like to get some idea's from ya on what all to use? thanks

Neither one is an Excursion, but I'd think that'd be a minor issue, if at all:

There was a guy that did this in an old Diesel World magazine feature. I believe he used a 12V Cummins. One thing I remember was that he used an F700 manifold to clear the heater box and I believe he used the original V10 transmission but with a different torque converter. You may be able to search their archives for the article. I believe it was a 2009 issue around mid summer.

Hey guys thanks for all the links and stuff really appreciate it. Ill defiantly keep u all updated with everything. Ill just be slow go for a little bit while i get everything rounded up. If u all have any suggestions don't hesitate to give them. An again thanks.

I just wanna subscribe in case my 7.3 craps out.......I like the 7.3 but my Dad has a 12v with 300k on it that will still out perform mine .........and it is the fastest starting diesel I have ever seen.....barely makes 1 revolution

So would u guys use a 12v 24v or commonrail? Just curious i can't make up my mind lol. Im leaning more toward the commonrail but not sure.

I've got a 12V with 300k miles on it. Looking for a 7.3 Excursion only because my kids are getting too big for the quad cab. Not uncommon for the 12V to go 1m miles, but the rest of the truck is the limiting factor!

12V is simpler to maintain than the 24V, so cheaper if you are paying for the labor. 24V is quieter I believe. Don't know about the commonrail.
