ok heres the deal i turned up my ip a 1/4 turn put its not rolling coal. do i need to turn it up more or could it be dirty injectors or is it cuz i dont have a turbo
Rolling coal ain't the best for your engine, its probably much better if you can't see any black smoke. I myself turned up the fuel almost half a turn and haven't seen any black smoke yet. But I have a turbo and I had to do that match the air/fuel ratio. BTW: what was your highest EGT reading (assuming you have a pyro, of course)??
If you don't have a pyro, I wouldn't be turning it up...
You'd probably have to turn it up more to "roll coal". I've had my pump up more than three flats before and it didn't really put out thick black smoke like I thought it would, more greyish black, and not that thick.
it could be worn but that tiny adjustment isnt going to roll coal and please dont. A slight amount at WOT is fine but like in the vid of the idi rolling on a turbo, thats friggin ridiculous and is ticketable in most areas.
What they said - turning it up much only makes for higher risk of damaging your engine and/or being pulled over and issued a ticket. It really does not make you look cool, no matter what your buddies may be saying - actually you oughta hear what them truckers have to say when they get passed by someone in a pickup truck blowing coal like an old steam train, oh you can just feel the love in the air, lol
That is what they make rain caps for Also, get this, when I had a turnout stack I was getting more water in it then later when I switched to a straight open-top (no rain cap) miter cut... Then I modded a rain cap to work with the miter cut, and that was the end of all rain-related problems.

That's weird, I wonder why that would be?
The previous owner put the stacks on my truck. I thought they looked cool at first, but now I'm not that big a fan of them. I don't think I'll ever have a truck with stacks after this one.
it takes a special truck to really own stacks. haha. with my turbo i may reinstall my stack but i like having the bed free to haul hay and not worrying about things melting to it. if i put a guard around it, that is just more room gone from a standard box.
Yup, special truck alright, like about every one that has a pair of training wheels on it? And I fully intend on bringing the stacks back on mine, only this time they will be outside the bed (and therefore shielded) - what's the smallest size semi tractors use?

I was thinking of doing that on mine - the stack outside the bed. But only on the passenger side, I think it wouldn't look bad on my truck.
Thats true, it might. If I ever do a stack - it will be on the passenger side. If I do it inside the bed, I want to still be able to put a 4x8 sheet of plywood in and be able to close the tailgate so I would have to do bends underneath.
All you need for a corner stack is a 90* bend to the right, a short piece of straight pipe, then another 90* bend up. I will easily clear the frame rail on the under side, that's how mine was fr a bit.
